Data protection declaration

As a public body, the City of Paderborn uses your personal data solely in accordance with the legal stipulations, in particular those of the data protection act for the federal state of North Rhine Westphalia. The personal data which we collect from you while visiting the website of the City of Paderborn is only used for the stated purpose. Your personal data will neither be publicised nor forwarded to third parties without authorisation. It is further guaranteed that external service providers hired by the City of Paderborn will also abide by the stipulations regarding data protection.

Storage of data
With each visit to the websites of the City of Paderborn, technical data (IP address, name of the retrieved site, date and time of retrieval, data quantity transferred, report as to whether the retrieval was successful) is stored temporarily. This data essentially serves the purpose of system security and the technical administration of the network infrastructure, and is subject to automatic deletion. The data cannot be assigned by us to a specific individual.

Use of "cookies"
In some areas of our internet presence, cookies are used in order to facilitate navigation of the website by visitors. Cookies are small text files which are filed on your computer and stored by your browser. Most of the cookies used by the City of Paderborn are deleted from your hard drive after the end of the browser session (so-called “session cookies”). Statistical surveys
The City of Paderborn uses the “Piwik” web analysis service for analysis and optimisation purposes. Each time our websites are accessed, the following data is recorded and stored as an anonymised version:

With this data, which is used with pseudonyms, user profiles are created. These serve to analyse visitor behaviour and are assessed with the purpose of improving our internet presence and to ensure a user-friendly design. This is where cookies are used. The data retrieved with “Piwik” is not used to personally identify visitors to the website without express permission from the persons in question. Furthermore, it is also not combined with personal data on the bearer of the pseudonym. The data is automatically deleted after a period of three months. The settings made here in “Piwik” conform in full with the recommendations made by the independent federal state centre for data protection (Unabhängiges Landeszentrum für Datenschutz; ULD).

However, you have the option of refusing permission for your data to be used by “Piwik” for web analysis purposes.

Please note that you must repeat the above exemption procedure when you delete your cookies or change the settings for your computer or browser.

Data transfer and electronic communication
With an uncoded transfer of data via the internet, there is a possibility that unauthorised persons will register your presence or falsify your data.

When using the services offered on the website of the City of Paderborn, a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) procedure is employed.

If you wish to send messages to the City of Paderborn containing confidential information via uncoded e-mail, please note that their content may be viewed and/or falsified by third parties. The website of the City of Paderborn also contains information and services from other service providers who may record your personal data within the scope of their service offers.
