Overview

Catholic College of North-Rhine Westphalia(CC NW), Paderborn centre

The CC NW was founded in 1971, and is funded by North-Rhine Westphalia's various dioceses. With its four separate centres in Aachen, Münster, Cologne and Paderborn, the college is the largest privately-financed university for social sciences in Germany, specialising in courses in social education and social work. The faculty of theology in Paderborn also offers a course in religious studies, leading to a career as a community social worker and parish adviser. Supplementary courses of study offered by all faculties include psychology, sociology, law, theology and philosophy.

At present, there are approximately 3,000 students studying at the CC NW, with some 780 students based in Paderborn.

The CC NW recently expanded its range of courses, introducing the first Masters degree in social management in Münster and Paderborn. Those enrolled on the course gain a working knowledge of subjects such as business management, administration, staff management and aspects of the law concerned with social welfare, all of which can be put to practical use in their future careers.
